Description:

Insurer on the West Coast US has a need for a Senior Level FSA Experience Analysis and Modeling Actuary. The incumbent will direct periodic review of all company and/or industry experience leading to the assumptions used in all actuarial models, recommend changes to those assumptions and ensures that all approved changes are accurately implemented in a timely manner.
This role will report directly to the Chief Actuary but also take work direction from the Actuarial Assumptions Committee. The duties of the role include: maintaining an inventory of all assumptions used in actuarial models (such as mortality, morbidity, persistency, expenses, investment returns, etc.), including a history of what has been used for each assumption in the past and when each assumption has changed, developing a schedule for reviewing and updating each assumption that meets corporate objectives and regulatory requirements, performing the necessary analysis of company and/or industry data related to each assumption, coordinating the production and distribution of standard experience reports to management, recommending to the Actuarial Assumptions Committee changes to the assumption when appropriate, along with estimates of the impact that the proposed change will have on each financial measure, including ROI, BOP, EV, etc. The incumbent will also direct a team of individuals from other Actuarial departments to implement any approved assumption changes into all Actuarial models in a timely manner, verify that the changes have been made correctly and that the actual financial impact is reasonable in comparison to the estimated impact. Additionally, the incumbent will handle special projects/assignments as requested by the Chief Actuary and develop and maintain necessary databases and computer applications to complete assigned tasks.
